SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State women's swimming and diving finished first among eight teams with 1,301.5 points at the Augustana Invitational Saturday.
The men finished second among four teams with a point total of 1,556, trailing only South Dakota (1,859.5).
"What a great exhibition from this team this weekend," said Head coach
Doug Humphrey. "We had performances that rivaled our top performances from the of end last year and I am very proud of how this team has come together and raised the level of success we've enjoyed so far. I look forward to the best part of our season, and that is the second half."
Ashley Theobald broke the 100 IM school record with a time of 57.22, passing the previous mark of 57.33 set by
Kristin Erf in 2018. The Jackrabbit women tallied 7 record-breaking swims over the course of the three-day event.
Women
Maria Currie swam a career-best 17:44.11 in the 1,650 free to place sixth.
In the 200 back,
Tiffany Nguyen finished fourth in 2:05.24 and
Adria Golla fifth in 2:07.00, both career-bests.
Elisabeth Timmer posted a season-best time in the 100 free (51.64), placing fifth.
Alyssa Eckstein finished second in the 200 breast with a season-best 2:19.65 mark.
Ashley Theobald won the 100 IM in her record-breaking swim of 57.22.
In the 200 Fly, Kristin Davis swam a career-best 2:05.98 to finish second.
Liezl Ocon placed fifth with a season-best mark of 2:07.81.
Men
Parker R. Brown finished the 1,650 free in a season-best 16:28.86 to place third.
Damon Venner came in at eighth with a career-best 16:45.61.
The men placed three in the top four spots in the 200 back.
Josh Wuflestad finished second in a season-best 1:49.56,
Jared Miller third in a season-best 1:52.15 and
Austin Pham swam a career-best 1:52.42 to place fourth.
Henry Skinner posted a career-best 45.40, placing fourth in the 100 free.
In the 200 breast,
Quenton Steffen finished third in a season-best 2:04.30.
Gavin Wheeler swam a season-best 54.45 in the 100 IM, placing fifth.
The 200 fly saw three Jackrabbits in the top-five with
Damon Venner placing third in 1:53.13.
Cody Watkins finished fourth in a season-best 1:55.28 and
Max White swam a season-best 1:55.98 to finish fifth.
Relays
In the 400 free relay, the women's 'A' team (
Katie Drezen,
Grace Witherspoon,
Emily Pincus, Timmer) finished second in 3:28.55.
The men's 'A' team (Skinner,
Reece Stikeleather,
Alex Kraft, Watkins) placed third with a time of 3:04.14.
Diving
The women placed four in the top five in the 3-meter dive.
Abbi Rouse scored a career-high 248.15 to place second,
Quincee Simonson placed third (247.80),
Julia Gill fourth (236.50) and
Aleni Stoakes fifth (232.55).
Zach Boyd won the 3-meter for the men with a 334.25 mark with Mitch Raihle placing second (330.25), both putting up season-bests.

The Jacks will next compete in the new year with their next event scheduled for Jan. 17 when the women travel to Iowa State for a dual meet at 5 p.m.
