PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas - The South Dakota State women's golf team wrapped up the fall season Sunday with a seventh place finish at the White Sands Invitational at the Ocean Club Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits put together a 304 (+16) round Sunday, their best of the tournament, to maintain their hold on seventh place.
Piper Stubbs finished in a tie for 19th place, the best finish of the weekend for the Jacks. The sophomore tallied a 75 (+3) in the last round, bringing her three-day total to 228 (+12). She started the day with three birdies in her first five holes but cooled off and collected just one more over the next 13 holes.
Alex Kandolin fired a 74 (+2) Sunday and ended up one shot behind Stubbs in a tie for 22nd place (229, +13). Kandolin's 74 was the best single-round of the tournament for SDSU.
McKenzie Mages was steady through the event. After matching 78 scores on days one and two, the freshman recorded a 77 (+5) in her final 18 holes. She tied for 30th place (233, +17).
Shakira-Ann Kuys finished in a tie for 37th place (237, +21) and
Tatum Depuydt finished in a tie for 39th place (238, +22).
Lipscomb won the team title by an impressive 35 strokes over Arkansas State. The Bison turned in an 851 (-13) final tally, the only score under par. Lipscomb had four players finish in the top four, including SDSU graduate
Mia Seeman, who is using her fifth year with the Bison.
UP NEXT
The Jackrabbits are off until the first weekend in February. SDSU will play in the Lady Bison Bay Point Invitational hosted by Lipscomb February 5-7 in Panama City Beach, Florida.
