MARTIN, Tenn. — Hannah Steele earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in flat to lead the South Dakota State equestrian team in head-to-head competition Thursday at UT Martin, but the Skyhawks recorded sizable advantages in the three other events to post a 15-5 victory at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.

Both teams finished the day 1-2 overall while competing in their ECAC opener.

A junior from Woodstock, Georgia, Steele tallied a meet-best score in flat to win her matchup against Haley Kane, 85-78. Julia Werkhoven picked up another point for the Jackrabbits in flat by claiming her matchup against Bridge Vieau, 81-76.

UT Martin held 4-1 advantages in the three other categories. Sophia Kregosi, the reigning ECAC Rider of the Week in fences picked up the lone point in the event for the Jackrabbits, remaining undefeated in fences this season with an 83-81 victory over Elizabeth Becker.

In the Western events, the Jackrabbits received point-producing performances from Annika Hanson in horsemanship (71.5) and Adisyn Kuxhaus in reining (66.5).

UP NEXT
The Jackrabbits will be away from competition until Nov. 3, when they host Minnesota Crookston in another ECAC matchup.
