BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State faces another Summit League challenge on Friday when the Jackrabbits host South Dakota. The Jacks and Coyotes meet as part of the Interstate Series, presented by First Interstate Bank, at 6 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park.Â
Â
The Jackrabbits hold a 3-0 record in conference play as they hit the official halfway point of their Summit League slate with Friday's match. South Dakota enters the contest with a 1-1-1 record in league action. While SDSU has a 9-6-2 record against South Dakota all-time, the two sides are 1-1-2 during the last four meetings. The Jacks earned a 1-0 victory behind a
Katelyn Beulke goal in Vermillion a season ago. The traditional rivals completed a scoreless draw in Brookings in September of 2022.
Â
The Jackrabbits reached double-digit wins their last time out and are 10-2-1 overall this season. SDSU has now recorded at least 10 wins in 12 consecutive seasons. The Jacks boast more 10-plus win seasons (14) than any other league school since 2010.
Â
SDSU is in the midst of a six-match winning streak which is tied for the fourth longest in the nation, trailing only Duke (9), Quinnipiac (8) and Mississippi State (7). SDSU's .808 win percentage ranks 20th in Division I women's soccer. The Jackrabbits also have an undefeated span of 10 straight matches. The span is tied for the fourth longest in program history. The 10-match duration has seen the Jacks outscore opponents 25-5. SDSU has outshot every adversary faced this season.
Â
A variety of trends stick out through 13 matches. SDSU is 8-0 this year when scoring two-plus goals, while the Jacks are 9-1-1 when holding foes to one goal or less. South Dakota State is also among the nation's best in several categories. The Jacks rank third in the country in corner kicks per game (8.31), fourth in fouls per game (6.15) and 12th in shots per game (19.54).
Â
Defenders
Kaycee Manding (1123) and
Hayley Lindaman (1102) have spent the most time on the pitch this season. Beulke paces SDSU's scoring with 13 points.
Katherine Jones leads SDSU with a career-high five assists. Goalkeepers
Emma Knack and
Stephanie Leckwold have combined for a 0.62 goals against average and .830 saves percentage.
Â
2014 TEAMÂ REUNION
Friday's Interstate Series match serves as a reunion for South Dakota State's 2014 squad. A decade ago, the 2014 Jackrabbit team won both The Summit League regular season and tournament titles en route to the program's second ever NCAA appearance. It's still the only team in the program's history to win the regular season championship outright, then also claim the tournament crown. That team eventually finished its year with a 2-0 loss at North Carolina, a foe which still serves as the highest ranked team SDSU has ever faced with the Tar Heels No. 5 at the time.Â
