South Dakota State hosts Rice for the Jackrabbits' home opener Friday night at First Bank & Trust Arena.
The Jackrabbits are coming off a 78-62 road win over Creighton during which SDSU shot 53 percent from the field. SDSU center
Brooklyn Meyer tallied 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five blocks in the win. Last season, SDSU went 30-4 overall and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where the Jacks fell to eventual-champion UConn.
Rice went 17-17 overall last season and 7-11 in the American conference action. The Owls were picked to finish third in the American and had three players named to the preseason all-conference teams - Dominique Ennis (first team), Aniah Alexis (second team) and Victoria Flores (second team).

- Three returning SDSU players averaged at least eight points per game a season ago. Brooklyn Meyer scored 17.0 points per contest to go with 5.9 rebounds. Madison Mathiowetz and Katie Vasecka contributed 8.9 and 8.4 points per game, respectively.
- Maggie Hartwig, a transfer from Evansville, tallied 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore with the Aces last season. She was the only out-of-conference transfer recognized on the preseason all-Summit teams.
