MARTIN, Tenn. — Hannah Steele earned a spot on the All-Fences Team and Ada Hirschfeld was honored as the Freshman Rider of the Year for Reining as the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced its 2024-25 equestrian award winners Thursday night in conjunction with the league championship.
A senior from Woodstock, Georgia, Steele ended the regular season with a 6-5 record in fences head-to-head competition. She earned Most Outstanding Performer honors three times in the event and averaged 80.5 points per ride.
Hirschfeld posted a 4-3 overall record, including a 4-2 mark against ECAC opponents, during the 2024-25 regular season. The Kearney, Nebraska, native averaged 69.6 points per ride and was MOP in the event during a November competition against Minnesota Crookston.
In addition, senior Lydia Loken was one of five riders honored Thursday with the ECAC Equestrian Sportsmanship Award.
South Dakota State continues competition at the ECAC Equestrian Championship on Friday by taking on host and top-seeded UT Martin.
