MARICOPA, Ariz. - The South Dakota State women's golf team wraps up the regular season at the Cowgirl Classic hosted by Wyoming Wednesday and Thursday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.Â
This is the Jackrabbits' final event ahead of the Summit League championships April 20-22, also in Arizona.Â
Piper Stubbs, coming off a first-place finish at the Ozarks National Invite, will play in the No. 1 spot for the Jackrabbits. She will be joined by teammates McKenzie Mages, Reese Jansa, Shakira-Ann Kuys and Molly O'Hara.Â
Mages and Stubbs average just more than 73 shots per round to lead the Jackrabbits this season. Both have multiple top-five finishes. Stubbs is the reigning Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The South Dakota State women's golf team held off a third-round surge to win the Ozarks National Invitational team title last week. Stubbs earned individual medalist honors.
Stubbs, a senior, fired 69 (-3) for her final lap and finished the tournament with a +4 scorecard. She finished three shots ahead of the runner-up finishers. Mages posted an even-par 72 for the final round and tied for fourth place (+8). Reese Jansa (+11, eighth) and Shakira-Ann Kuys (+13, t-10th) were also top-10 finishers for the Jackrabbits. Molly O'Hara tallied a +23 scorecard over three rounds and tied for 29th place. Tatum Depuydt, competing individually, tied for 46th place (+26).
The Ozarks tournament title is SDSU's second victory of the season and fifth finish in the top five.
