BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State completed a run-rule victory over North Dakota State on Friday, April 18, defeating the Bison 10-0 in five innings at Jerald T. Moriarty Field.Â
Â
South Dakota State scored four runs in the first inning and another run in the second frame to take an early 5-0 lead.Â

Jackrabbit starting pitcher

Â
NDSU got its first hit of the game on a lead-off single to begin the fifth inning. A pair of two-out walks gave the Bison a bases-loaded opportunity. SDSU went to its bullpen and brought
Tayler Baker in on relief. She struck out the lone batter she faced to bring the Jackrabbits back up to the plate in the bottom of the fifth.Â
Â
A leadoff walk drawn by
Brooke Dumont set up
Abby Gentry who followed with a two-run home run to extend the advantage to 7-0. The inning continued as
Alli Boyle and
Akayla Barnard each picked up walks to put two runners on base. With one out,
Madi Conklin came up and swung at the first pitch she saw. Conklin launched a three-run home run over the center-field fence to end the game behind a 10-0 score.Â
