South Dakota State begins the 2025 season with a two-game road swing through the Midwest. The Jackrabbits will open the slate with a 7 p.m. match at Missouri on Thursday. SDSU then travels to Lawrence to take on Kansas at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
South Dakota State enters the new campaign following a 2024 season that ended with a second consecutive conference tournament title and eighth overall NCAA Tournament appearance. The Jackrabbits finished 2024 with a 15-5-2 record as SDSU earned a 3-1 victory in The Summit League Tournament Championship over Oral Roberts in Fargo. The Jacks' season came to a close with a 2-0 defeat at Minnesota.Â
SDSU's 2024 season added to the program's impressive resume among its peers. The Jackrabbits' top six seasons by winning percentage have all come in the previous six campaigns. The program has won four conference tournament titles, along with four NCAA Tournaments, in that span.Â
The Jackrabbits feature a solid mix of returners and newcomers in 2025. Senior captain
Lauren Eckerle, along with junior forward
Katelyn Beulke, each started in over 20 matches a season ago. Those two were recognized by The Summit League in some capacity a season ago along with returners
Mia Bosch,
Adrianne Agbayani and
Hailee Christensen.Â
A slew of 13 newcomers will be expected to make an impact on the program in 2025. Five are upperclassmen transfers with college experience, while eight make their collegiate debuts after standout prep careers.Â
SDSU continues to rank among the best in the nation. The Jacks finished the 2024 slate with an RPI ranking of 83rd. SDSU's three best end-of-season RPIs have come in the last three years. In 2022, the Jacks finished 59th and the following year SDSU was 62nd.
The Jackrabbits' meeting against Missouri will be the first between the two sides. The Tigers finished 5-10-2 overall last season. SDSU is 0-6-1 all-time against Kansas including a 2-1 defeat in Brookings to open the 2024 season.
