BROOKINGS, S.D. — Six Jackrabbits tallied goals, while South Dakota State combined for eight assists, en route to a 7-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Aug. 22, at Fishback Soccer Park. The win was the first for the Jacks this season as they improved to 1-1-1.Â

South Dakota State took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Mia Bosch got the scoring started for the Jacks with a 16th minute goal on an assist by
Hailee Christensen. The 39th minute saw the Jacks make it 2-0 as
Deizha Lyn Jacinto notched the first goal of her career.Â

The Jackrabbits broke the game open with three goals in the span of eight minutes.Â

Christensen found the back of the net in the 63rd minute to make it 3-0.
Emma Brezenski scored for the first time in her career, on an assist by
Brianna Finnegan, to extend the margin to 4-0 a minute later.Â

SDSU's
MaKynlie Cade registered the first goal of her career in the 70th minute. Her tally was assisted by Finnegan and
Ellie Gusman.Â

Finnegan converted on the first goal of her college career in the 75th minute behind an assist from
Jenna Maloy. Jacinto, in her first college appearance, recorded a brace as she scored another goal in the 81st minute. Assists were credited on the run up to Cade and
Abria Brooker.Â

The Jackrabbits were paced on the field by a 66-minute stretch by
Renny Buchanan and 63-minute appearance by
Taylor Thomas.
Stephanie Leckwold played all 90 minutes at goalkeeper for SDSU. The match served as an exhibition for SMSU.

- SDSU improved to 3-1-1 all-time against SMSU.Â
- The seven goals for the Jackrabbits were the most by the team in the past seven years. SDSU scored eight goals in a victory over Wayne State in 2018. Â
- The Jackrabbits' eight assists as a team are tied for the third most in a game in program history. SDSU last eight assists in a 2021 victory over Morningside. The team record of nine assists came in a pair of matches in 2002 and 2006.Â
- SDSU's 22 points as a team are tied for the fourth most in a game in program history. The Jacks previously had 22 points in a match in 2018. Â
- The Jackrabbits allowed just one shot to the Mustangs on Friday evening. It's the ninth time SDSU has allowed one shot recorded by an opponent. Last season, the Jacks didn't allow a shot to Wayne State in a 4-0 victory.
- The 1:04 span between Christensen and Brezenski's goals was one of the fastest in program history ranking 10th ever on SDSU's all-time list.Â
