South Dakota State travels across the Pacific Ocean for a three-match stretch beginning on Monday. The Jackrabbits start their lengthy stay in Hawaii by taking on Hawaii Pacific at 8 p.m. CT (3 p.m. HT) on the Sharks' home field.Â
SDSU is slated to play another two matches following its contest against DII Hawaii Pacific. The Jackrabbits are participating in the OUTRIGGER No Ka Oi hosted by Hawaii. The host Rainbow Wahine along with SDSU, California Baptist and Northern Arizona each play two matches in the event. The Jackrabbits will face Cal Baptist on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. CT (4:30 p.m. HT) and NAU Sunday at 5 p.m. CT (noon HT).
The Jackrabbits head to the Aloha State for the second time ever. SDSU previously traveled to Hawaii for a trio of matches in the 2021 season. That season saw SDSU beat Idaho State (6-0), Hawaii (1-0) and Hawaii Pacific (4-0) on the trip.Â
The Jacks won't face Hawaii on this trip, but do take on CBU and Northern Arizona. The meeting versus the Lancers will be the first for SDSU. The Jackrabbits and Lumberjacks have previously met twice. NAU won on a neutral site in 2012, 5-0. A decade later, SDSU came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in Flagstaff in August of 2022.
SDSU is coming off a 7-0 victory over SMSU on Friday at Fishback Soccer Park. The match was the first between the two sides since the Jacks' Division II days. State is now 4-1 all-time against SMSU.Â
