South Dakota State opens its 2025 season at the UNI Tournament, where the Jacks will take on a pair of 2024 NCAA Tournament teams in Illinois and Northern Iowa. The Summit League's reigning regular season champions return nearly every member of its regular rotation from the squad that went 27-3 overall a season ago.

- South Dakota State was picked to win the Summit League in the preseason poll released released this week following a 15-1 conference record in 2025.
- SDSU returns eight of 11 players from its regular rotation in 2024, including 2024 Summit League Player of the Year and All-America honorable mention Sylvie Zgonc.
- The Jackrabbits have 76 percent of their scoring production from 2024 back in 2025 with their top-three kill leaders - Zgonc (4.36 KPS), Schetnan (2.49 KPS) and Burr (1.87 KPS). SDSU returns its top producer in every stat category.
- Sydni Schetnan returns to SDSU for her redshirt senior year. She earned All-Summit First Team and AVCA All-Region honors in 2024. Schetnan hit .388 in 2024, a program record, and contributed 1.29 blocks per set.
- Rylee Martin, a setter, led the Jacks with 6.41 assists per set a season ago and set a new program record with 38 ace serves.
- Madison Burr, the reigning Summit League Freshman of the Year, is back for her sophomore season. Burr averaged 1.15 blocks per set and hit .316 in 2024.
- SDSU went 27-3 overall in 2024 and got an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
- Zgonc enters her junior season averaging 3.95 kills per set for her career, which ranks first in program history.
- In addition to its strong returning group, SDSU has four newcomers on its roster - one transfer and three freshmen. All four are ready to make an on-court impact for the Jacks in 2025.
