AZUSA, CALIF — Will Lohr breaks 14 minutes in the 5000-meter to round out day two for South Dakota State at the Bryan Clay Invitational Friday evening.
Lohr finished in the top 10 of heat five in the 5000-meter Invite competition. The junior posted a time of 13:58.77, besting his personal record time of 14:01.45 to become the fifth-fastest 5000-meter performer in program history.
Dale Johnson competed in the 5000-meter Open B competition, where he finished 11th in his heat, and 18th overall with a time of 14:28.75. On the women's side of the Open B event, Kelsey Schmidt clocked a time of 17:23.43 to place 45th out of 105 competitors.
In the men's 800-meter Open B competition, Sean Murphy finished at 1:52.77 to place 31st out of 152 competitors. Keaton Olson competed as well, crossing the line at 1:57.25. On the women's side, Madalyn Childs finished third in her heat at 2:14.82 to place 60th overall, while Emma Ecker clocked 2:16.96 to finish 85th out of 127 athletes.
Joe Dustin competed in the 800-meter Open A event. Dustin crossed the line at 1:51.22 to place 41st of 98. On the women's side of the 800-meter Open A event, Reese Luze placed 42nd with a time of 2:11.34, just one second off from making the SDSU top 10 list. Hannah Spoden and Lindsey Rotz competed as well. Spoden crossed the line at 2:11.78, while Rotz clocked 2:16.32.
In the women's 5000-meter Open A competition, Emma Gonzalez finished 59th with a time of 16:57.84, while Mya Kizer clocked a time of 17:53.61. On the men's side, Eli Hall crossed the line at 14:27.27 to place 87th of 128 competitors.
