MESA, Ariz. - The South Dakota State women's golf team sits in first place after the first day of the Summit League Championships at Longbow Golf Club.
The Jackrabbits tallied a +14 team score on the opening round, which puts them two shots ahead of South Dakota and four shots ahead of Denver, the defending champion.
McKenzie Mages is in a four-way tie for second place to pace the Jackrabbits. The senior shot a 73 (+2) Sunday with three birdies and is only one shot off the top of the leaderboard. North Dakota State's Madi Hicks leads the field.
Reese Jansa and
Hannah Boraas are also in the top 10. The duo is tied for sixth place with +3 scorecards, only one shot behind Mages.
Riko Danjo went +6 for the first round and is tied for 15th place.
Molly O'Hara is +11 and tied for 35th place.
The Jackrabbits tallied 11 birdies Sunday, the most of all teams.Â
Reese Jansa posted four birdies, matching the high for all individual players.

SDSU returns to the course Monday for the second of three championship rounds. The Jackrabbits will go off with Denver and South Dakota in the first group beginning at 7 a.m. MST.
