FARGO, N.D. —Cody Larson earns bronze for South Dakota State to cap off day two of the Summit League Championships on Friday evening.
Larson clocked 3000-meter steeplechase time of 9:16.59 to take his spot on the podium.
Ryan Benson finished fourth in the decathlon with a personal best of 6826 to become the second-best decathlon performer in program history. Benson rounded out the decathlon competition with a second and third-place finish in the javelin and the 1500-meter, respectively. The senior threw a mark of 186-07 (56.89m) to become the fifth-best javelin performer in program history before clocking a 1500-meter time of 4:53.50, only three seconds off from claiming the decathlon program record of 6844, set by Evan Hieber in 2018.
In the women's steeplechase, Nina Dawson became the seventh-best performer in program history with a time of 10:39.87, finishing fourth in the event.
In jumping events, Hadley Carlson cleared 5-05.75 (1.67m) in the high jump competition to take fourth. On the men's side, Grayson Ring and Brooks Holen jumped 6-05.50 (1.97m) to tie for sixth.
Rylan McDonnell earned a sixth-place finish in long jump after leaping 23-04.00 (7.11m).
In throws, Caiden Fredrick landed in the top five in the shot put competition with a mark of 53-03.00 (16.23m).
In preliminary events, Brady Wallace earned a spot in the 110-meter hurdles finals. The freshman posted a time of 14.36 to qualify for the finals, scheduled for 1:15 p.m. tomorrow.
Lucas Flemmer, Story Rasby and Erika Kuntz posted qualifying performances in the 400-meter for their respective genders. Flemmer crossed the line at 48.22 to finish second in his heat and earn a spot in the finals, scheduled for tomorrow at 1:25 p.m. On the women's side, Rasby and Kuntz finished runner-up in their respective heats to qualify for the finals. Rasby clocked a time of 56.61, while Kuntz crossed the line at 57.58. The women will race in the 400-meter finals at 1:20 p.m. tomorrow.
Ellie Harris and Chloe Raw will compete in the 100-meter finals at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow. Harris won her heat with a time of 11.67, while Raw crossed the line at 11.93 to take runner-up in heat one to qualify. On the men's side, Carter Toews finished runner-up to earn a spot in tomorrow's finals. Toews crossed the line at 10.76 in the prelims and will compete after the women's 100-meter finals tomorrow afternoon.
Reese Luze posted a qualifying time to make the 800-meter finals, scheduled for tomorrow at 1:55 p.m. Luze crossed the line at 2:13.64 to finish fifth overall.
Brandon Kampsen and Joe Dustin earned a spot in the 800-meter finals, scheduled to race tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Kampsen clocked a time of 1:56.06 to tie North Dakota's Aleksa Milanovic and earn a spot in the finals.
