BROOKINGS, S.D. ? A two-goal second half wasn't enough to bring the South Dakota State women's soccer team back as they lost 3-2 against the University of Iowa Sunday afternoon at Fishback Soccer Park.

It was very windy at Fishback Soccer Park and whichever team had the wind at its backs had a distinctive advantage. Iowa scored three first half goals while playing with the wind. The Jackrabbits scored two goals in the second half with the wind at their backs.

Sarah Stephenson scored the first goal of the game eight minutes into the first half. Her goal was unassisted.

The next goal was an own goal for Iowa after the Jackrabbits tried to pass the ball back to goalie Brienna Rogers and the ball went into the net.

Alexandria Seydel scored the third Hawkeye goal off a direct kick 42 minutes into the first half.

Kelsey Worcester scored both of the goals for the Jackrabbits. Her first goal came a little over two minutes into the second half. The goal was assisted by Kellyn Farrell.

Worcester's second goal of the game came off a pass from Emily Quigley 36 minutes into the second half. The goal was Worcester's third on the season.

For the match Iowa out-shot the Jackrabbits 14 to 12. Iowa had eight shots on goal and SDSU had six shots on goal. Worcester led the Jackrabbits with five shots and four shots on goal. Seydel led Iowa with three shots and Stephenson led the Hawkeyes with two shots on goal.

Lindsey Boldt was in net for the Hawkeyes and had four saves. Rogers, making her first collegiate start, had five saves for the match.

The loss drops the Jackrabbits' record to 2-2-3. Iowa's record improved to 4-1-3 for the season.

The Jackrabbits will play again on Sept. 28 against the Drake Bulldogs in Des Moines, Iowa.
