After splitting a pair of Summit League games at home, South Dakota State returns to the road, and to non-conference play this week with games at Minnesota on Wednesday and at Denver on Saturday.
The Jackrabbits, who enter the week with a 4-5 overall record, 1-1 in Summit League play, won their conference opener on Thursday with a 71-58 win over Centenary (La.) before falling to four-time defending league champion Oral Roberts 85-76 on Saturday.
SDSU NOTES ? Junior Garrett Callahan leads the Jackrabbit offensive attack with 18.6 points per game, which includes five 20-plus point performances in the last seven games. Sophomore Clint Sargent comes into tonight's game averaging 13.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Junior Kai Williams, who led the Jacks in scoring in each of his first two years on the team, averages 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Anthony Cordova leads the Jacks with 7.9 rebounds per game and adds an even eight points per game, while senior Mackenzie Casey leads the Jacks with 19 assists.
As a team, the Jacks shoot almost 42 percent from the floor overall, 34 percent from three-point range. Jackrabbit opponents shoot 45 percent from the field and 32 percent from long distance. The Jacks hold a slight 36-35 edge in rebounds and have committed six fewer turnovers than their opponents, but enter Saturday's game with 11 fewer steals.

SDSU basketball will also have an increased presence on Mediacom throughout the 2008 season. Replays of Jackrabbit men's and women's home games can be seen several times a week on the Mediacom Connections Channel in South Dakota and Minnesota, as will coaches' shows, starting when conference play begins in December.
WILLIAMS CLOSES IN ON 1,000 POINTS ? Junior Kai Williams entered the 2008-09 season with 769 career points, just 231 shy of becoming the 39th member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club and the first to score all of them at the Division I level.
Williams enters the week game with 95 points on the season, 864 in his career, leaving him 136 points short of the milestone.
TRANSITION OVER ? The NCAA Division I Management Council Administrative Committee, acting on behalf of the DI Management Council, announced in late June that South Dakota State University met the requirements to become an active member of NCAA Division I, starting at the beginning of the 2008-09 academic year.
Previously a member of Division II, SDSU Successfully completed the five-year process of moving its athletic programs to comply with Division I membership requirements. Those requirements include compliance with Division I rules for the final four years, meeting minimum financial aid and contest scheduling limits, engaging in a rules compliance review and successfully complete the athletics certification process.
SDSU officials submitted an extensive self-study to the NCAA in the spring of 2007 and a peer-review team completed the study during a campus visit in October 2007.
THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-0, 0-0 Big Ten) ? The Golden Gophers enter the week with a perfect 8-0 record, which includes seven home games and a 90-76 win over SDSU's Summit League rival North Dakota State on Nov. 29.
Lawrence Westbrook leads a balanced offensive attack and enters the week as the only Golden Gopher to average in double-figures with 14.4 points per game. Blake Hoffarber adds 9.2 points, Damian Johnson pitches in with 9.0 and Yankton, S.D., native Colten Iverson averages 8.8 points per game. Iverson also leads the team with 4.9 rebounds per game.
Minnesota shoots 48 percent from the floor overall, 36 percent from three-point range and holds its opponents to 38 percent from the floor, 31 percent from long range. The Gophers hold a 37.1-32.6 rebounding advange, a 54-11 blocked shots advantage and a 74-56 advantage in steals. They also turn have turned the ball over 23 fewer times than the competition.
The Series vs. Minnesota ? The Golden Gophers lead the all-time series 10-0. Minnesota won the first meeting 59-21 on Dec. 6, 1930 and won the last meeting 78-72 on Dec. 12, 2007.
Garrett Callahan scored a career-high 28 points and the last meeting, as the Jacks came up just short of their first win in the series.
Denver Pioneers (1-5, 0-0 Sun Belt) ? The Pioneers, who play at Cal State-Northridge on Tuesday, entered the week with a 1-5 record. DU snapped its season-opening skid with a 67-65 win over Texas-Arlilngton on Friday at the Grizzly Basketball Classic in Missoula, Mont.
Nate Rohnert leads the Pioneer offense wtih 15.3 points per game and with an even 6.0 rebounds per game. Rob Lewis adds 12.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Denver shoots 44 percent from the floor overall and almost 37 percent from three-point range. They hold their opponents to 27.3 rebounds per game, but average just 22.3. DU opponents also hold a 16-10 advantage in blocked shots and a 73-86 advantage in turnovers.
The Series vs. Denver ? The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 4-2, including wins in each of the last three seasons. Kai Williams led all players with 25 points in a 56-52 Jackrabbit win in the last meeting on Dec. 18, 2007 at Frost Arena.
