In it's first year of eligibility, South Dakota State secured a No. 7 seed in the eight team field at The Summit League Championships this weekend in Sioux Falls, and just over a week after dropping a five-point game at Oral Roberts, the Jackrabbits drew the those same Golden Eagles, who drew a No. 2 seed in the tournament after falling to North Dakota State in the regular season finale.
SDSU and ORU square off on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the Sioux Falls Arena, with the winner advancing to play the winner of the No. 3 seed Oakland vs. No. 6 seed IPFW game scheduled for Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
The Jacks trailed the Golden Eagles for the entire first half last week in Tulsa, Okla., but came back to take a five-point lead on two occasions in the second half before ORU closed out the game with a decisive 10-0 run.
Still in search of its first-ever Summit League road win, SDSU went to Shreveport, La., on Saturday to close out the regular season against Centenary, but the Gents put those hopes to rest in the second half with a 19-0 run. The Jacks responded with an 8-0 run, but could not get any closer than four points the rest of the way.
SDSU NOTES ? Garrett Callahan leads the Jackrabbit offense with 15.6 points per game after becoming the 40th member of the SDSU 1,000 Point Club in the win over Southern Utah. He enters the week ranked 28th on the all-time scoring list with 1,076 points.
CALLAHAN JOINS 1,000 POINT CLUB ? Junior Garrett Callahan needed 20 points and got 24 in the Jacks win over Southern Utah on Feb. 12, to become the 40th member of the SDSU 1,000 Point Club, the second to score all of them at the D-I level and the second to achieve the milestone this season. He enters the week ranked 31st on the list with 1,056 career points.
CALLAHAN TIES 52-YEAR-OLD RECORD ? Junior Garrett Callahan tied a 52-year-old SDSU single game free-throw percentage record when he went 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the Jacks win over Southern Utah.
Callahan ties the record set by Jim Sutton, who went 12-for-12 in a win over St. Thomas (Minn.) in Dec. 1956.
Callahan has made 31 straight free throws in parts of the last nine games and is 39-for-40 from the line over that span, with his only miss coming in a 10-for-11 effort vs. IPFW on Jan. 29.
CALLAHAN EARNS SUMMIT LEAGUE HONORS ? The Summit League announced Thursday that South Dakota State junior guard Garrett Callahan earned a place on The All-Summit League Second-Team for his play during the 2008-09 season.

QUARTERFINALS OPPONENT
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (16-14, 14-4 Summit) ? The four time Summit League Champion Golden Eagles enter The Summit League Championships as the No. 2 seed after losing their bid for a fifth straight title after falling at home to North Dakota State 75-72 on Saturday. The loss to the Bison also snapped ORU's 35 game conference home winning streak.
Robert Jarvis leads ORU with 17.4 points per game and became the 27th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark over the weekend.
Marcus Lewis adds 13.2 points per game, while and Kevin Ford adds 9.8 points to go along with his team-high 7.5 rebounds per game.
The Golden Eagles shoot .443 from the floor overall, .319 from three-point range in scoring 70.8 points per game. Despite being just two games over .500, ORU holds opponents to .427 shooting overall, .349 from long distance, and to 66.2 points per game. The Golden Eagles also fare better than their opponents in assists, turnovers and steals, but enter the week with eight fewer blocks than the competition.

POTENTIAL SEMIFINAL OPPONENTS
Oakland Golden Grizzlies (20-11, 13-5 Summit) ? The Golden Grizzlies enter the tournament with the No. 3 seed and riding a season-high seven-game win streak, as the Grizzlies picked-up home wins over Southern Utah and UMKC last week.

Keith Benson adds 14.4 points per game and leads the team with a single-season school record 75 blocks, while Johnathon Jones adds 13.5 points and leads the nation with 241 assists.
Oakland shoots .475 from the field overall and .375 from three point range in averaging 75.2 points per game, nearly four more points than their opponents.
The Grizzlies hold a slight rebounding edge and a significant edge in blocks over the competition, but enter the tournament with fewer assists and steals and with more turnovers.
IPFW Mastodons (13-16, 8-10 Summit) ? The Mastodons enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed after beating UMKC and Southern Utah at home to end the season, which gives them three straight wins to end the season.
David Carson combined for 33 points in the two wins, and leads the Mastodons with 14.9 points per game. Ben Botts averages 11.3 points per game, while Deilvez Yearby averages 8.9 points to go along with his team-high 6.3 rebounds and IPFW single-season record 54 blocks.
