TEMPE, Ariz. ? The defending Women's College World Series champions and seventh ranked Arizona State Sun Devils completed a three-game sweep of the South Dakota State softball team on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz., with a 9-1 win.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 3-15 on the season, while the defending champs improve to 21-4.
The lone Jackrabbit run came in the top of the fifth, when freshman Krystal Higgerson smacked her second homerun of the season over the fence in right centerfield. Dani Broshar recorded the only other hit for the Jacks, a double in the second inning.
ASU plated seven runs on five hits and three Jackrabbit errors in the second inning to take a commanding lead, and then added a pair of runs on three hits in the fourth.
The Jackrabbits get Monday off before returning to action on Tuesday, with a doubleheader against Miami (Ohio) in San Diego at 11 a.m. PT.
