BROOKINGS, S.D. — After an up and down weekend at the KU Invitational where the Jacks went 0-1-1, tying Missouri State and falling to a ranked Jayhawk team, SDSU returns home to face the University of Mary to wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The Jacks are 2-4-2 on the season but are a respectable 2-1 at home this season. The Jacks faced their second ranked team of the season this past weekend at the KU Invitational. The Jacks faced off at No. 19 Minnesota on Aug. 21 and at No. 22 Kansas on Sept. 20. The Jacks fell in both matches 4-0.
The Jacks will host the Mary Marauders, who hail from the Division II ranks and are a members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Mary is also the alma mater of current Jackrabbit assistant coach, Brock Thompson. He graduated from Mary in 2000 and coached the Marauders from 2001-2003. Thompson led Mary to a pair of Region III Championships and berths to the NAIA National Tournament in 2002 and 2003.
Scouting Report: Mary
The Marauders are 2-2-2 on the season, including 1-1-1 on the road. Last week, Mary battled Northern State to a 2-2 tie in Aberdeen.
Mary is led on the offensive side of the ball by Alyssa Deutscher and Megan Wilson with two goals and an assist each. As a team, Mary has a shot percentage of .091 and a on-goal percentage of .500.
Defensively, Mary is led by senior captain Joanna Drennen. On Sept. 1, she was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts against Nebraska-Kearney. The Marauders won the game 1-0 and didn't allow a single shot on goal. In net, Carly Feiler has started four games. She has allowed six goals and made 16 saves for a .727 save percentage.
The Jacks are 3-0 all-time verses Mary with the Jacks winning their last meeting 2-0 on Sept. 9, 2007.

Feed the Fans: The Jackrabbit Athletic Department will hold their annual “Feed the Fans” game on October 9th when the Jacks host Oakland at Fishback Soccer Park. All SDSU fans will be treated to a burger, drink and good soccer.
Justice Cracks top 10: Kaitlin Justice scored her eighth career goal against Drake on Sept. 11, propelling her into 10th place on the all-time goals-scored list at SDSU. She is the only current Jackrabbit on the list, and is second in career scoring on the current roster with 17 points, topped only to fellow junior Danni Healy who has scored 19.
