South Dakota State's five game Summit League winning streak came to an end last week in Fargo, but the Jackrabbits can start a new streak this week with home games against IPFW on Thursday and Oakland on Saturday.
The Jacks return home from a three-game road trip with a 9-9 overall record, 5-2 in Summit League play, after the loss at North Dakota State last weekend.
Along with the streaks that ended, one streak did continue, and it did not go in the Jacks favor, as the loss marks the seventh straight at the hands of the Bison, dating back to a 67-65 Jackrabbit win on Feb. 18, 2006 at Frost Arena.
Garrett Callahan led SDSU with 15 points off the bench at NDSU, Anthony Cordova added 12 points for the Jacks, who led by eight points at the half, but gave up a 15-2 run to start the second half to lose the lead for good.
Garrett Callahan leads the Jacks overall with 12.5 points per game, and enters the week 50 points shy of cracking the top-10 in all-time scoring at SDSU. Clint Sargent adds 11.4 points per game thanks in large part, to a team and league-high 90 percent free throw percentage. Kai Williams averages 9.9 points per game and leads the Jacks with 5.2 rebounds per game. Michael Palarca scores just 3.5 points per game, but leads the Jacks with 51 assists and enters the week tied with Callahan with 13 steals.

More than just a scorer, Callahan enters the week with 231 career assists, 10 shy of cracking the top-10 at SDSU.
WILLIAMS MAKES HIS MARK - Kai Williams completed an old fashioned three-point play in overtime against Oakland on Jan. 31, 2009, to become the 39th member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club and the first to score all of his points at the Division I level. Now a senior Williams enters the week ranked 16th all-time with 1,268 points.
In addition to his climb up the SDSU scoring charts, Williams also rebounded his way into the top-10 in career-rebounds. Williams, who led the Jacks in rebounding in each of his first three years on the team, enters the week ranked sixth on the all-time list with 749 rebounds and needs just eight more rebounds to crack the top-five.
SARGENT CLOSES IN ON 1,000 POINTS - Junior Clint Sargent continues to close in on the 1,000-point milestone. His 202 points so far this season gives him 854 career-points, 146 points shy of joining the club.
WOLTERS TIES FREE THROW RECORD - Freshman Nate Wolters tied the SDSU single game free-throw percentage record when he went 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the Jacks win over UMKC last week. Wolters ties the record first set by Jim Sutton in a win over St. Thomas (Minn.) on Dec. 17, 1956 and equaled by Garrett Callahan in a win over Southern Utah on Feb. 12, 2009.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT
IPFW Mastodons (8-9, 3-4 Summit, 1-7 Away) - Picked to finish sixth in the preseason Summit League poll, the Mastodons enter the week on pace to make the prediction come true with a 3-4 league record, 8-9 overall.
After dropping both games of a road trip at Centenary and Oral Roberts two weeks ago, IPFW bounced back to sweep a pair of league games last weekend at home against Southern Utah and UMKC, and come to Brookings in search of its first three-game winning streak of the season.
Deilvez Yearby leads the IPFW offense with 16.5 points per game, with 8.9 rebounds per game and with 38 blocks, more blocks than the rest of the team combined. Ben Botts adds 11.5 points per game as the only other Mastodon to average in double figures.
The Series vs. IPFW - The Mastodons lead the all-time series 6-2 after each team won on its home floor last season.
The Jacks struggled mightily in the first meeting of the 2008-09 season , falling 100-66 on Jan. 2, 2009, in Ft. Wayne, but bounced back to beat the Mastodons by the score of 76-70 in Frost Arena on Jan. 29, 2009.
Oakland Golden Grizzlies (13-7, 7-0 Summit, 5-6 Away) - The preseason favorite to win the Summit League, the Golden Grizzlies enter the week with riding a seven game overall winning streak, and a 14 game league winning streak dating back to last season. OU cracked the collegeinsider.com poll for the first time this season last week at No. 21, and moved up to 15 after a weekend sweep of UMKC and Southern Utah.
Three-time league player of the week Keith Benson leads a powerful OU offense with 17.1 points and with 10.2 rebounds per game, he also easily leads the team with 64 blocks. Derick Nelson adds 11.8 points per game, while the Summit League's preseason player of the year Johnathon Jones adds 11.5 points and a team-high 125 assists. Larry Wright rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.2 points per game.
The Series vs. Oakland - The Golden Grizzlies lead the all-time series 4-1. The Jacks lone win in the series came on Jan. 31, 2009, when the Jacks came back from a 17-point second half deficit to win 74-68 in overtime. Kai Williams completed an old fashioned three-point play in the game to become the 39th member of the SDSU 1,000 Point Club, the first to score all of his points at the Division I level.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits return to the road next week to start the second half of The Summit League season with games at Centenary and Oral Roberts.
The Jacks and Gents play on Thursday at the Gold Dome in Shreveport, La., while the Jacks and Golden Egales meet on Saturday at the Mabee Center in Tulsa.
SDSU beat both teams earlier this season at Frost Arena.
