Wins over Oral Roberts and Centenary last week gave South Dakota State its first-ever three-game Summit League winning streak, and sends the Jackrabbits on the road this week with a chance at their first-ever three game overall winning streak at the Division I level. To reach the mark, the Jacks need to take care of business at UMKC on Thursday, when they meet UMKC in Municipal Auditorium at 7:05 p.m., to extend the streak to four, the Jackrabbits need to beat Southern Utah on Saturday in Cedar City, Utah at 7:30 MT.
The Summit League streak started with the Jacks first-ever league road win, an 80-74 win at Western Illinois on Dec. 5, 2009, the overall streak started with a 72-70 win over Oral Roberts last Thursday, and continued with an 89-59 drubbing of Centenary on Saturday.
Clint Sargent led the Jacks last week with 15 points per game, with a 66.7 percent field goal percentage and with a 57 percent three-point percentage. He also went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, as did Nate Wolters, who averages 11.5 points for the week. Kai Williams averages and even 11 points in the two wins, and added 6.5 rebounds per game.
Garrett Callahan leads the Jacks overall with 12.4 points per game, Sargent adds 10.6 points per game and a team-high 88.6 percent free throw percentage. Kai Williams averages 9.4 points per game, and enters the week tied with Anthony Cordova for team-high honors with 5.1 rebounds per game. Michael Palarca scores 3.9 points per game, but leads the Jacks with 45 assists and enters the week tied with Callahan with 12 steals.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO - All Jackrabbit men's basketball games, home and on the road, can be heard live on AM 570 WNAX, with Steve Imming doing the play-by-play. The pre-game show begins 15 minutes before tip-off.
Select Jackrabbit games can also be heard on KRKI, ESPN Radio 99.5 FM in Rapid City.

NAGY TO COACH BAREFOOT FOR SAMARITAN'S FEET - SDSU head coach Scott Nagy, along with the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association and high school coaches throughout the state, teamed up with Samaritan's Feet to raise money and shoes for children all over the world.
All of the coaches from the SDBCA agreed to coach a game barefoot between Jan. 14-23, culminating with coach Nagy coaching barefoot at Frost Arena on Jan. 23, when the Jackrabbits host Oakland.

SENIORS CLIMB THE 1,000 POINT CLUB LADDER - Seniors Garrett Callahan and Kai Williams both joined the SDSU 1,000-Point Club last year as juniors and started their climb up the all-time points ladder.
Callahan started the season ranked 25th all-time with 1,092 points, but already moved up to 14th on the list with 1,276 points. Williams started the season 26th all-time with 1,091 points, and enters the week ranked 17th all-time with 1,232 points.
REBOUNDING INTO THE RECORD BOOK - In addition to his climb up the SDSU scoring charts, Kai Williams grabbed 13 rebounds last week to not only crack the top-10 in career-rebounds, but move up to ninth on that list with 729. Williams, who led the Jacks in rebounding in each of his first three years on the team, needs 18 rebounds to move all the way up to sixth on the list.
SARGENT CLOSES IN ON 1,000 POINTS - Jackrabbit junior Clint Sargent entered the season with 652 points, 348 shy of becoming the 41st member of the SDSU 1,000 Point Club. His 159 points so far this season gives him 811 career-points, 189 points shy of joining the club.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
UMKC Kangaroos (8-6, 2-1 Summit, 4-2 home) - Picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll, which would keep them out of the Summit League Championships for a second straight year, the Kangaroos enter the week with a two-game league winning streak. UMKC opened the conference season with a loss at Oral Roberts, but bounced back with a road win at Centenary and a home win over Southern Utah last weekend in Kansas City.
Jay Couisnard leads the UMKC offense with 13.3 points per game and with 31 assists. LaTreze Mushatt adds 11.5 points to go along with his team-high six blocks and his team-high 5.6 rebounds per game. Trey McKinney-Jones adds 10.2 points and leads the Roos with a 51.6 percent field goal percentage.
The Series vs. UMKC - UMKC leads the all-time series 4-3 after splitting the season series last year, with each team winning on its home floor. The last Jackrabbit win in Kansas City came in a non-conference affair on Dec. 19, 2006, when the Jacks won 79-71 in overtime. A freshman at the time, Kai Williams played all 45 minutes in the win, which remains his career-high to this day.
Southern Utah Thunderbirds (4-10, 0-3 Summit, 3-2 home) - Picked to finish seventh in The Summit League's preseason poll, the Thunderbirds opened the conference season with an overtime loss at Centenary and followed that up with losses at Oral Roberts and most recently at UMKC.
Davis Baker leads the SUU offense with 17.4 points per game and ranks second on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game. Ryan Brimley, who came off the bench in nine of the T-birds 13 games, adds 10.9 points per game.
The Series vs. Southern Utah - Series tied 2-2, with each team winning on its home floor in each of the last two seasons.
Garrett Callahan drained a three-pointer with three seconds left in regulation on Jan. 17, 2009 in the last meeting in Cedar City, Utah, but Southern Utah's Jake Nielson answered with a 30-footer at the buzzer to tie the game at 75 and force overtime, where the Thunderbirds outscored the Jackrabbits 10-5 for the 85-80 win.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits complete their longest stretch of road games on Friday, Jan. 15, with a game at rival North Dakota State. Jackrabbit fans can watch the game live on KSFY-TV in South Dakota or on Fox College Sports Central. In either case, Scott Peters of KVLY sports in Fargo signed on to do the play-by-play, with KSFY sports director Erik Thorstensen handing the color commentary and KVLY weekend anchor Brian Shawn handling the sideline interviews.
