FRESNO, Calif. – Jackrabbit seniors Jordan Goodall and Danielle Baker both scored points in their final collegiate rides, but the South Dakota State equestrian season came to a close on Saturday with a 9-6 loss to New Mexico State in the second round of the United Equestrian Conference Championships in Fresno, Calif.
The Jackrabbits end the season with a 6-9 record, while the Aggies improve to 6-7 and await a seed for NCEA Nationals.
“It was great to see the hunt seat riders finish strong today,” head coach Megan Rossiter said. “But it was bittersweet to watch great rides from our three seniors, Jordan, Mandy and Danielle.”
Goodall won both of her points on the day, scoring a 155 on the flat to end the season with a 6-8 record, she also took home MOP honors on the flat, her third flat MOP of the season. She scored 160 over fences to improve to an even 7-7, which ties her for the second-most wins in a season in SDSU history.
Junior Marielle Golden also won both of her points, carding a 151 on the flat and a 137 over fences. She ends the season with a school single-season record nine wins on the flat (9-4), which also gives her an SDSU career-record 14 wins (14-8). Golden's win over fences gives her an 8-6 record on the season, which sets a new SDSU single-season record.
Freshman Alissa Greenwald also scored her point over fences to end her first Jackrabbit campaign with a 3-5-1 record.
On the western side, Baker went out a winner, scoring the Jacks lone western point of the day, a 134.5 in reining to improve to 5-6-1 on the season. She ends her career at SDSU with a 13-18-1 record.
NOTES: Goodall's seven wins over fences ties her for the second-highest single-season wins total, tying her with Santana Wright, who did it in both 2011-12 and 2013-14 … Goodall finishes her career over fences with a 17-23-2 record, the seconding-highest win total in school history … Golden's 13 career wins over fences ranks second all-time at SDSU behind Wright's 21 career wins ... SDSU's six wins on the season marks the second-high single-season win total in school history, behind only the 2012-13 season when the Jacks finished 7-6
