CORAL GABLES, Florida — Jumping five spots in the final round, the South Dakota State women's golf team broke the school record for 18 holes Wednesday to finish 10
th at the Hurricane Invitational.
The Jackrabbits shot the second-best round of the day, firing a five-under par 283 with 18 birdies. The round broke the 2015 school record of 285 set March 16 at the Jackrabbit Invitational.
No. 16 Northwestern won the invitational with a final round six-under par 282 to finish with a five-under par 859 in the 15-team field. State finished ahead of 45
th-ranked Iowa State with a three-round 897 (309-305-283).
No. 47 Hannah Kim of Northwestern won the 85-player individual title, shooting a six-under par 210 (69-74-67) on the par-71, 6,150-yard Biltmore Golf Course.
Seniors
Megan Mingo and
Islamiah Fuad both shot 69s, the third-best rounds in school history.
Mingo tied for 33
rd (78-76-69=223) and had birdies on five holes. Fuad, who jumped 17
th spots in the final round, tied for 65
th (79-85-69=233) and collected a team-high six birdies, including four on the front nine to put her at three under.
Senior
Hallie Getz tied for 42
nd, shooting a 225 (75-76-74). Freshman
Teresa Toscano fired a final-round 71 and tied for 48
th (79-76-71=226). Freshman
Sydney Bormann tied for 65
th (77-77-79=233).
Playing as an individual, junior
Natcha Srimaneerungroj finished 84
th (79-83-83=245).
