MARTIN, TN – In a dual meet on Thursday, the Jackrabbits split their matches, falling to UT Martin 9-5 and topping Sweet Briar College 6-3 to start the regular season at 1-1.
 
Jacks fall to UT Martin 9-5
Freshman 
Alexa Maiello scored first for the Jacks, topping UT Martin's Abbie Hopkins, 76-55 in Equitation over Fences. 
Matilyn Skinner posted the team's second point, defeating her counterpart 73-45, locking the meet at 2-2 after the first discipline.
 
Jacey Chorlton earned the Jacks lone point in Equitation on the Flat, grabbing a 78 to take down UT Martin's Hopkins. SDSU fell 2-1 on the Flat and 4-3 in the hunt seat totals.
 
The Jacks won Horsemanship 2-1 behind 
Jordan Gates defeating her opposition 73-69.5 and 
Rylee Streit winning 71.5-70.5.
 
UT Martin took the final event, sweeping Reining 4-0 to ultimately decide the match.
 
SDSU defeat Sweet Briar in Hunt Seat Matchup
 
SDSU bested the Vixens 4-0 in Fences behind Maiello's MOP performance, scoring an 81. Chorlton, 
Jessica Martinez, and 
Abrielle Reed all scored a 74 and 
Sydney House posted a 55 to push a tie with Sweet Briar's Maggie Fraley.
 
Martinez and Reed earned the Jacks two points with runs of 78 and 71, respectively, in Equitation on the Flat. Although they dropped the discipline 3-2, it was enough to win the meet 6-3.
