After practicing for the last four months, the South Dakota State women's golf team opens its 2018 spring schedule this weekend at the GCU Invitational hosted by Grand Canyon University.
The Jackrabbits are one of 14 teams that begin play Saturday at the par 72, 6,110-yard GCU Golf Course in Phoenix. The event consists of 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday with an 11 a.m. shotgun start Saturday and 10 a.m. start Sunday.
State played in five tournaments in the fall and collected a pair of top-10 finishes. Its best outing came at the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate, finishing seventh.

Teresa Toscano leads the team with a 72.33 stroke average. She ranks second in The Summit League.
Sophomore
Sydney Bormann and freshman
Cassidy Laidlaw each have 75.20 stroke averages. Bormann finished fifth in the season opener at the UNO Invitational.
The Jackrabbits' 299.0 stroke average ranks second in the league.
