The South Dakota State track and field teams split among two meets on the final regular-season weekend before competing the 2019 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Macomb, Ill. on May 8-10.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Jackrabbit women came away with the lone Jackrabbit win on Saturday in Sioux Falls, taking the top spot on the podium by 7.63 seconds and running their second-best relay mark on the season.

The group consisting of juniors
Delaney Carlson (first leg) and
Allison Sebern (third leg) with sophomore
Chloe Bermel (second leg) and freshman
Lauren Van Dyke (fourth leg) have all ran the relay race this season, but the first time together.
Â
Sebern added a 0.10-second career-best mark in the 200m for a ninth-place finish on Friday evening (26.02) before running the 4x400m relay on Saturday.

Also out of the 4x400m relay group, Van Dyke, the freshman from Lawton, Iowa and former runner from Sioux City East High School, posted managed to compete in two other events on the weekend.

Her individual highlight came from the 400m on Friday night, leading the Jackrabbits by running her third personal-best reset of the season and finishing with her second career top-three finish (third, 57.64).

She also competed in the 800m on Friday, placing 13th (2:19.25) behind seniors
Rachel King (fifth, 2:14.75) and
Rachel Propst (12th, 2:19.23) who both scored personal-best marks.
Â
King recorded her second-ever 800m in the Yellow and Blue, last running the event to open her freshman campaign in 2016 (Tulsa Duals, March 18-19, 2016). She cut 13.88 seconds from that mark and is ranked ninth on the league's performance list as of Friday, missing the school's all-time list by 2.19 seconds.

Propst finished the 800m with her third personal-best reset of the season, cutting a total of 10.14 seconds from her best prior to the season (set back in 2016 at the Tulsa Duals, 2:29.37).

Blake Iverson was one of four Jackrabbits at Howard Wood Field who finished the weekend two-for-two with personal-best mark resets. The Maple Grove, Minn. native, along with unattached freshman
Daniel Burkhalter trimmed their best marks in both the 800m on Friday (Iverson: eighth-1:54.43, Burkhalter: 21st-1:57.28) and 1,500m on Saturday (Iverson: 14th-3:59.93, Burkhalter: 12th-3:58.59).

Trevor Begeman also reset two event marks, adding 2-01.00 feet to his hammer throw on Friday (16th, 144-00.00) and 1-04.50 feet to his shot put on Saturday (fourth, 53-03.00). His best in the shot put would be ranked No. 10 all-time for the school if he were attached.

Josh Donahoe went two-for-two on Saturday, finishing ninth in the 110m hurdles (15.78) with a 0.30-second personal-best and then ran a 0.95-second personal-best mark in the 400m hurdles for a sixth-place finish to end the day (56.76).

Emma Nelson continued her streak of personal-best resetting, increasing the reset number to five. She finished 19th in the 1,500m (4:51.04) be trimming 1.93 seconds, resetting her mark all five attempts in the event this season.

Logan Ammons tallied the first event win for the Jacks with his first career win at the Dakota Relays, second win of the season and fourth of his career, in the hammer throw (186-03.00).

Addison Eisenbeisz came away with a four-inch win in the high jump (5-07.00) for the second SDSU event crown in Sioux Falls on Friday. It was her second consecutive win in the event, third of the outdoor season and fourth overall (indoors and outdoors) through her outstanding first-year as a Jackrabbit.

Eisenbeisz's mark is tied for the second-best mark in The Summit League's outdoor performance list behind her personal-best and tied-No. 3 all-time SDSU mark (5-08.75) that is ranked 28th in the NCAA West Preliminary performance list as of Friday night.

The senior from Savage, Minn.,
Kasie Vollmer, posted the third and final win of the opening day for the Jacks in the discus throw (163-08.00). She has won her third career competition at the Dakota Relays, ninth overall event crown (eight outdoors, one indoors), as she moves into the third-best mark on the league's performance list and 52nd in the NCAA West list as of Friday.

At the league championships, Vollmer has placed runner-up (2017) and won (2018) while appearing in the NCAA West Preliminaries the last two years.

Also on the opening day of Dakota Relays competition, freshman
Faith Leiseth increased her discus throw best by 10-05.00 feet for a fourth-place finish (151-00.00), missing the all-time Jackrabbit list by three feet.
NEBRASKA INVITATIONAL
LINCOLN, Neb. -Â While some were finishing competition in Sioux Falls, there was a crowd of Yellow and Blue jerseys on Ed Weir Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

Cal Lawton highlighted the day-trip, running his second personal-best reset in the 800m and moving from No. 5 all-time in Jackrabbit history into a tie with Jake Schneller (2012) for the No. 4 all-time mark (1:50.11).

The Summit League's leading 800m runner earned his second career outdoor 800m win, fourth indoor/outdoor win, at Nebraska as he led a group of Jacks whole stole the top-three places.

Behind Lawton was freshman standout
Riley Bauer, who also scored a personal-best mark and moved from No. 9 all-time to behind Lawton and Schneller for the No. 6 all-time mark, finished runner-up in Lincoln (1:51.02).

The league's 2019 indoor 800m defending champion and 2018 outdoor 800m co-champ, junior
Wyatt Gatrost, came in third (1:52.52) with his second outdoor top-three finish of the season, third of his two-year stint with the Jackrabbits.

She posted a season-best mark on Friday, her best-ever mark at the Howard Wood Field as a Jackrabbit. The Savage, Minn. native is now third in The Summit League's outdoor performance list and 52nd in the NCAA West Preliminary list as of Friday.
