BEFORE SDSU: First high school girl to win 20 medals at the Iowa State Cross Country and Track and Field Championships ... four-time state cross country championship finisher, placing third twice (2014, 2017) eighth once (2016) and ninth once (2015) ... two-time cross country district champion (2017, 2014) and three-time conference cross country champion (2017, 2016, 2014) ... 2018 track and field state champ in four events (800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, DMR) ... runner-up at the 2017 state track and field championships in all four events she competed in (800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, DMR) ... four-time state track and field place-winner during 2015 and 2016 seasons (events both seasons: 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, DMR) ... won two events during the 2018 Drake Relays (1,500m, 3,000m) and was a place-winner in those events during the 2015 season ... has PR’s in the cross country 5k of 18:06 and in three events on the track: 800m (2:13), 1,500m (4:31), 3,000m (9:50) ... competed in basketball all four years - winning the 3A Iowa State Basketball Tournament in 2018 while recording 246 assists throughout the year (Iowa State Girls H.S. record), the most assists in a state tournament (37), the most assists in a state game (18), and earning all-tournament captain ... four-time all-state in basketball (2014/15-2017/18) as the team was a state quarter-finalist in both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons ... accumulated over 1,500 career points and was all-state basketball captain for Class 3A in 2017-18 ... member of A-honor roll all four years of school and a member of the National Honor Society from 2016 to 2018 ... named Valedictorian ... parents, Myron (football and track & field) and Lisa (volleyball) Friesen competed at SDSU.
