South Dakota State Equestrian made a push by winning the final event Saturday afternoon, but lost to UC Davis, 10-9 on Senior Day.
Down 8-6 going into Reining, Streit scored a 68.5,
Natalie Gydesen scored a 71 and
Cassidy Gardiner scored a 70 to pull to a 9-9 tie entering the final point, but dropped the final point.
Hayley Kastrup earned MOP for her ride on the Flat while
Emily Boeke also earned the honor for her performance in Horsemanship.
In the opening event,
Samantha Hunsecker won a point in Fences with her ride of 81 along with
Rachel Darby who scored a 76.
Jessica Martinez scored a 79,
Claire Garduno a 78 and Kastrup 68 as the Jacks dropped Fences 3-2.
On the Flat, Kastrup (77) and
Jessica Boesch (72) earned points for the Jacks, but UC Davis earned three points to go up 6-4 at the midway point. Martinez (74.5), Garduno (73) and Darby (59.5) also rode in the event.
Horsemanship ended in a 2-2 tie with Jackrabbit points coming from Boeke's MOP ride of 73.5 and
Jordan Gates (72.5).
Kodi O'Boyle tied with a 70 while
Rylee Streit (69.5) and
Jadyn Taylor (69.5) also showed.
Reining wrapped up the meet with the Jacks winning 3-2 but it wasn't enough.
Cassandra Townsend scored a 68.5 in her ride and
Isabelle Riggs rode for a 70.5 in the event.
Notes
- Martinez is now tied for third all-time with Jacey Chorlton in career meets competed in Fences with 40, two from the top spot of 42.
- Martinez has competed in 35 career meets on the Flat, good for fourth all-time.
- Claire Garduno is now tied for eighth all-time with 27 career meets on the Flat. She is also tied for 10th all-time with 26 career meet's competed in Fences.
- Jordan Gates earned her 16th career win to sit alone in second place all-time in Horsemanship, four short of the school record of 20 held by Kelsey Swainston (2013-17).
