South Dakota State equestrian heads south for its final two meets of the regular season, taking on No. 9 Baylor Friday and No. 8 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas Saturday.
The Jackrabbits will open up the weekend with a Friday afternoon meet against Baylor. The start time is scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m. but may change as the meet will follow the conclusion of a 9 a.m. meet that same morning.
Saturday will be the NCEA Meet of the Week between the Jacks and Texas A&M, starting at 11 a.m.
No. 9 Baylor (4-6)
SDSU and Baylor met in Horsemanship at last year's nationals with Baylor edging out a 3-1 victory. State is 0-5 in program history against Baylor.
No. 8 Texas A&M (3-6)
The Jackrabbits are 0-6 all-time against the Aggies dating back to 2009. The two teams last went head-to-head last year on Jan. 26 as the Jacks fell 14-5.
Notes
- Jessica Martinez is second all-time in career Fences wins at SDSU with 19, two away from the record of 21 held by Santana Wright (2010-14).
- Martinez is tied for third all-time with Jacey Chorlton in career meets competed in Fences with 40, two from the top spot of 42.
- Martinez has competed in 35 career meets on the Flat, good for fourth all-time.
- Claire Garduno is tied for eighth all-time with 27 career meets on the Flat. She is also tied for 10th all-time with 26 career meet's competed in Fences.
- With 16 career wins, Jordan Gates ranks second all-time in career Horsemanship wins, four short of the school record of 20 held by Kelsey Swainston (2013-17).
- With two MOPs in Horsemanship this season, Gates is one away from tying the school record for most in a single season.
- Gates also has three career MOPs in the event, tying her for third all-time at SDSU, four away from the record of seven held by Champagne.
