SWEET BRIAR, Va. — The South Dakota State equestrian team wrapped up three days of competition on the East Coast with a 6-3 setback in a head-to-head jumping seat competition against Sweet Briar College on Sunday.

Sweet Briar built an early lead by winning three of the four points awarded in flat. Aerin Hopkins picked up the lone point for the Jackrabbits in the event with a score of 73.5. Margaret Franke scored a team-best 75, but tied in her matchup against Katherine Atherton.

Hopkins and Franke also earned the Jackrabbits' two points in fences with respective scores of 78 and 76.

The Jackrabbits, 1-5-1 in head-to-head competition this season, will be away from competition until opening the spring portion of their schedule Feb. 18-19 by hosting Georgia and Minnesota Crookston.
