South Dakota State took fourth-ranked Georgia down to the wire in their head-to-head equestrian competition Friday at the DeHaan Equestrian Center, but the visiting Bulldogs held the upper hand in three events to come away with an 11-8 victory.

The Jackrabbits, who fell to 2-6 in head-to-head competition, managed to post a 3-2 advantage in reining to close out the afternoon. Natalie Gydesen recorded a score of 68.5 to win her matchup against Caitlin Lyons, while Lydia Loken and Isabelle Riggs added respective winning scores of 66.5 and 65.5 points.

Georgia held a 3-1 edge in flat as three Bulldog riders tallied scores of 71 points or higher. Rachel Head picked up the lone point for SDSU with a score of 64.5 in her matchup, while Margaret Franke tied Ceci Bresch on Sootar with a score of 68.5.

The Bulldogs also notched 3-2 advantages in both fences and horsemanship despite all five SDSU riders posting scores of 72 or higher in fences. Hannah Steele (75) and Kate Koehl (74) earned the points for the Jackrabbits.

In horsemanship, Callyn Fox (73) and Grace Blake (69) earned the Jackrabbit team points.

Georgia swept the Most Outstanding Performer awards and was led by Jordan Toering in the jumping seat categories with 80 points in fences and 79.5 points in flat. Jillian Stopperich earned the honor in horsemanship with a 72-point ride, while Jax Bound was the reining MOP after posting a score of 70.
