BOULDER CITY, NEV. - Freshman
Ty Kretz earned medalist honors at the Jackrabbit Invitational hosted by South Dakota State Saturday, leading the SDSU squad to a third-place team finish at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Kretz carded a 68 (-4) in the final round to move up three spots from Friday into first place with a 212 (-4) total score. He tallied five birdies Saturday to finish with his 68, the second best score of the day among all players. The tournament victory is the first of Kretz's collegiate career.
The Jackrabbits' third-place finish is their best team finish of the season. SDSU totaled an 874 (+10) score, its second best score-to-par of the year.Â
Jack Tanner ended the tournament in a tie for 13th place with a 220 (+4) scorecard.
Jonah Dohrer was one stroke behind at 221 (+5) in 17th place.
Matthew Schaefer recorded a 226 to tie for 36th and
Liam Georgiadis tallied a 230 for 45th place, rounding out the SDSU team.
Noah Boraas competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 29th in the standings.
Blake Schaper finished 36th while
Lucas Schaefbauer and
James Temple tied for 65th place, all competing individually.
As a team, South Dakota State finished with 48 birdies over the three-round event, the second most of the field. The Jackrabbits also performed the second best on par-fives, posting a -21 score on those holes.

The Jackrabbits will be off until April 11 when they compete at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Mizzou in Columbia, Missouri.
