KRETZ TIES FOR 15TH IN ARIZONA

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Ty Kretz finished in a tie for 15th place Sunday to lead the South Dakota State men's golf team at the Desert Mountain Collegiate.Â
Kretz turned in a 220 (+4) final scorecard. After tallying a 76 (+4) in the opening round, the sophomore posted a 3-under 69 in round two, then a 75 (+3) on the last trip around the course. Kretz's 69 featured five birdies, including four in a six-hole stretch. It is his best single-round score of the season.
Matthew Schaefer posted a 230 (+14) three-round score and Blake Schaper was one shot back at 231 (+15). Schaper's final round was his best of the weekend, a 2-over 74. The duo finished in ties for 58th and 64th place, respectively.
Jonah Dohrer placed t-73rd (234, +18) and Luke Honner placed t-75th (235, +19).
As a team the Jacks finished in 13th place out of 16 teams. No. 22 Mississippi State won the tournament led by Ruan Pretorius, who earned individual medalist honors.
