TEN JACKRABBITS HONORED AS ALL-DISTRICT

BROOKINGS, SD – Ten members of the South Dakota State track and field program were recognized on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, officials announced Wednesday. The national award recognizes top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
All ten athletes who were named to the team contributed to team scoring at the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet.
Men's Honorees
Women's Honorees
To be nominated, student-athletes must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing. Academic All-District honorees advance to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 28.

- Thomas Breuckman, Sr., Andover, Minnesota – 3.939 GPA (4.0 in graduate school) in Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
- Daniel Burkhalter, Jr., Prairie City, SD – 4.0 GPA (3.933 in graduate school) in Mathematics/Statistics
- Ben Olson, Sr., Coon Rapids, Minnesota – 3.723 GPA (3.857 in graduate school) in Mechanical Engineering
- Reid Pierzinski, Sr., Nisswa, Minnesota – 3.774 GPA (4.0 in graduate school) in Mathematics/Teacher Education
- Hunter Wallster, So., Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada – 4.0 GPA in Mechanical Engineering
Women's Honorees
- Caitlin Bright, So., Alexandria, Minnesota – 4.0 GPA in Human Biology/Pre-Medicine
- Leah Hansen, Jr., Willmar, Minnesota – 3.703 GPA in History
- Cerington Jones, So., New Underwood, SD – 3.781 GPA in Landscape Architecture
- Faith Leiseth, Sr., Hayti, SD – 3.705 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies
- Lauren Van Dyke, Sr., Lawton, Iowa – 3.789 GPA (4.0 in graduate school) in Mechanical Engineering
