JACKRABBITS EARN USTFCCCA RECOGNITION

NEW ORLEANS – Both the South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams have been named to the 2023 NCAA All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while seven Jackrabbits were individually honored as All-Academic Athletes.
The SDSU women's squad earned a 3.57 cumulative grade-point average through the spring semester while the Jackrabbit men combined for a 3.23 cumulative team GPA. Teams must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify for the honor.
Both Jackrabbit squads have earned the team academic award every year since the 2010 season.
The following seven athletes—four men and three women—were recognized as All-Academic Athletes:
Leiseth and Pierzinski were repeat selections.
To qualify for the individual award, honorees must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and must have completed a minimum of two semesters at the institution for which they competed in 2023. In addition, honorees must have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 of any championship individual event or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, with outdoor competitors having competed in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships or finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the multi-events in their respective region.

- Hunter Wallster, Jr., Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada (Mechanical Engineering)
