WEEK 5: South Dakota State at UST, MSUM, USD |
BROOKINGS, SD – In the final week of action before the conference championship, South Dakota State will compete in three meets as they split between Minnesota and Vermillion on Wednesday and Friday.
At the Joe Sweeney Invitational in St. Paul, the field events will kick off at noon while the track events will follow at 4 p.m.
Also on Wednesday is the Maverick Open #1 in Mankato. Action will start at 2 p.m. with the field events as the track events will kick off at 4 p.m.
Finally, on Friday, Jackrabbits will head south for the USD Tune-Up. More information about schedule/events to come.
PETERSON HONORED BY SUMMIT LEAGUE: After shattering the previous SDSU javelin throw school record and tallying an event win,
Nora Peterson has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Field Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Peterson was the college javelin champion at the Drake Relays, winning the event with a monstrous throw of 156-04.00. She improved her previous personal best by nearly 12 feet/3.65 meters, currently sits atop the league and is 41
st in the NCAA West Region.
This is Peterson's first career weekly honor.
She joins
Jake Werner as the two Jackrabbits to earn the honor so far this season, as he was recognized on April 9.
REGIONAL RANKINGS: The sixth weekly regional ranking by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association was released on April 30, with the Jackrabbit men falling three spots to 17
th and the women maintained 19
th.
MEN PICKED THIRD, WOMEN FOURTH IN PRESEASON POLL: The Jackrabbit men were chosen to finish third while the women were picked to finish fourth in the 2024 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, league officials announced on March 6.
