SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State had seven players recognized, including one which earned an individual award, as The Summit League announced its 2025 all-conference women's soccer teams on Thursday. Awards and All-Summit League Team honorees were selected by the conference's head coaches.
 
SDSU saw junior 
Mallorie Benhart tabbed as The Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year. Benhart is the Jackrabbits' third player to earn the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year award, joining Maggie Smither and Jocelyn Tanner, and first since 2022. 
 
Benhart, in her first year in Yellow and Blue, started and played in all eight league matches. She finished the conference slate among the Summit's goalkeepers second in save percentage (.837), total saves (36) and saves per game (4.50), as well as third in goals against average (.908). Benhart on the season recorded six shutouts and posted a 9-2-5 record behind a .831 goals against average and .837 save percentage.
 
The Lakeville, Minn., native earned three weekly honors from The Summit League during the season as well.
 
Benhart was chosen for the All-Summit League First Team along with senior captain 
Lauren Eckerle. The SDSU defender was an honorable mention choice last season and All-Newcomer Team selection in 2022 as a freshman. 
 
Eckerle started in every conference match on the Jackrabbits' back line and played a team-high 715 minutes. The Hugo, Minn., native scored a goal and recorded five assists for seven points in conference play. The assist total was the highest by any individual player in Summit League play.
 
A trio of Jackrabbits were selected to the All-Summit League Second Team in 
Mia Bosch, 
Ellie Gusman and 
Jenna Maloy.
 
Bosch was an All-Newcomer Team selection last year as a freshman. Bosch started in every conference match and played primarily at forward in league play. She had a goal and four assists to register six points in conference action. Her assist total was tied for the second highest among the conference's players. Bosch also had the sixth highest shots on goal total (9) and seventh highest shot output (17). 
 
Gusman was bestowed her first All-Summit League honors of her career. She started in all eight conference matches as she helped buoy SDSU's defense as a wing. The SDSU junior played the full 90 minutes at South Dakota on Oct. 18 and 83 at Denver on Oct. 9. Gusman scored two goals on seven shots, while she had the best shot percentage among SDSU players of .286.
 
Maloy claimed Second Team accolades as a part of her freshman campaign as a Jackrabbit. The midfielder started and played in every conference match. Maloy was the leading scorer for the Jackrabbits with three goals and two assists. Her eight points and goal total each ranked third among Summit League individuals. Maloy claimed two Kwik Star Offensive Peak Performer of the Week awards during the league schedule.
Emma Brezenski was credited as an honorable mention to the All-Summit League Teams. The Columbus, Neb., native played in every conference match and started in four. She registered six points behind three goals. Brezenski recorded a brace in an Oct. 12 victory over Omaha. Her 10 shots on goal in league action ranked tied for third and her 19 shots were fourth among the conference's individuals.
 
Four Jackrabbits were chosen to The Summit League All-Newcomer Team. Benhart, Brezenski and Maloy each were voted on to the team, as well as defender 
Taylor Thomas. 
 
The Sioux Falls native started and played in every conference match for the SDSU back line. Thomas played the fifth most minutes on the team with 560. The SDSU senior helped pace the Jacks to the second-best goals against average in the league of 0.88.
 
South Dakota State returns to action when it make its quarterfinal debut in the 2025 Summit League Women's Soccer Championship. The Jackrabbits host Omaha at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings.
