SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State junior goalkeeper
Mallorie Benhart was named the Kwik Star Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week award winner, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Benhart was selected as the defensive honoree by the league's head coaches.
Benhart made starts in each of the Jackrabbits' two matches to begin the 2025 season. The Lakeville, Minn., native collected a save in SDSU's 1-1 draw versus Mizzou. On Sunday, Benhart had five saves in a 1-0 defeat to Kansas, a Jayhawk squad that was ranked No. 25 in TopDrawerSoccer.com's Top 25 rankings. One of her saves came on a penalty kick attempt.
Benhart is in her first year as a Jackrabbit after spending two seasons at Green Bay. She currently has a 1.00 goals against average and .750 save percentage through 180 minutes in goal for SDSU.
The South Dakota State soccer team looks ahead to its home opener on Friday. The Jackrabbits host Southwest Minnesota State at 7 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park. It's a Move-In Weekend ticket special for South Dakota State University students. Students may use their SDSU student ID for up to two additional complimentary tickets to bring family or friends.
