WAIPAHU, Hawaii — South Dakota State sophomore
Adrianne Agbayani scored an equalizing goal in the 77th minute versus Northern Arizona on Sunday, Aug. 31, to help seal a 1-1 tie between the Jackrabbits and Lumberjacks at Hawaii's Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.Â

The two sides played a tight opening half of action.

NAU produced multiple shots on goal in the first 45 minutes as SDSU goalkeeper
Stephanie Leckwold recorded three saves. The Lumberjacks had a narrow 5-4 edge in shots as the teams went into the second half of play.Â

Northern Arizona broke through in the 56th minute. Micala Boex registered an unassisted goal to put the Lumberjacks in the lead just over 10 minutes into the half.Â

South Dakota State started to put more runs together and wound up outshooting NAU in the second half by an 11-9 margin.Â

The Jackrabbits finally found the back of the net in the 77th minute. Agbayani struck a left-footed shot for a goal, her first of the season, to tie the score. Fellow sophomore
Hailee Christensen was credited with an assist.Â

Both foes created three shots apiece in the final 13 minutes. NAU eventually ended the contest with a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.Â

South Dakota State ended its trip to Hawaii with a 3-1-2 overall record. Northern Arizona is now 2-1-2.Â

NOTES
- Leckwold eventually ended the match with five saves. That total is tied for the most by an individual keeper this season with Mallorie Benhart's five against Kansas on Aug. 17.
- Christensen has registered points in four consecutive matches. The Sioux Falls native has a team-high nine points behind three goals and three assists.
- Defenders Taylor Thomas and Renny Buchanan each played 90 minutes. Freshman MaKynlie Cade played 57 minutes, the most among SDSU's reserves. Â
- SDSU and NAU are now 1-1-1 in three all-time meetings.Â
