South Dakota State equestrian head coach Kamerra Brown announced Wednesday the addition of Claire McDowall to lead the Jackrabbits' Western riders.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Claire McDowall to SDSU," Brown said. "With her competitive background and proven success in the Big 12 Conference, Claire brings a positive, driven energy that will make an immediate impact on our team. We're excited to have her on board and are ready to take on the upcoming competition season together."
McDowall has been associated with the Oklahoma State program for the last five years, both as a student-athlete and coach. As a competitor, she earned All-America honors three times and was a two-time all-NCEA honoree in horsemanship. A native of Franktown, Colorado, McDowall was a starter on the Cowgirls' 2022 national championship team and ranks second in program history for career victories in horsemanship with 48. She also collected 17 career Most Outstanding Performer awards.
During the 2024-25 season, McDowall moved into a coaching role as a student assistant coach at OSU. She also has been a clinician at various camps and has served as a schooling rider and mentor for youth riders in preparation for high-level competitions.
