The South Dakota State men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Omaha, Nebraska, on Saturday for a dual with Omaha and Nebraska. Competition begins at 11 a.m. at the H&K Pool.
Both Jackrabbit squads are 2-0 after sweeping Augustana last weekend. The men won 114-85 and 135-77, while the women won 152-53 and 155-71. Omaha won both the men's and women's duals when the teams met last October, and the Mavericks placed third at the 2026 Summit League Championships in both divisions.
MEN'S PREVIEW: Senior Cody Vertin won the 200 breaststroke (2:05.23) and 400 IM (4:08.54) against Augustana, while junior Nik Keuser took the 100 breaststroke (:57.42) and 50 freestyle (:21.26) on Saturday. Junior Zavier Kranz won the 100 freestyle (47.89), and the trio helped win the 200 free relay in 1:25.72.
Sophomore Luke Watkins won the 1,000 freestyle by nearly 32 seconds (9:57.69) and the 500 freestyle (4:44.54). Sophomore Roman Billings placed second in both diving events Saturday.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW: The Jackrabbits won both relays and eight of 10 individual events Saturday. Junior Kailee Crane posted personal bests in the 100 free (:54.24) and 200 free (1:57.50), and senior Gigi Hioki won the 500 free (5:12.47) and 50 free (:24.78) while anchoring the winning 400 medley relay. Hioki was awarded Summit League Peak Swimmer of the Week honors this past week for her efforts.
Freshman Taylor Tabino won the 400 IM (4:44.61), and junior Emma Ingalls took the 100 breaststroke (1:07.28).
A LOOK AHEAD: SDSU competes at the Coyote Extravaganza in Vermillion, South Dakota, on Oct. 30-31.
