South Dakota State hosts its final home game of the regular season at 2 p.m. on Saturday as the Jackrabbits prepare to take on North Dakota inside First Bank & Trust Arena. Prior to the game, SDSU will hold its Senior Day recognition.
SDSU looks to bounce back following a 74-66 defeat to North Dakota State on Wednesday in Brookings. The Jackrabbits held leads throughout the first half and had the score within one on multiple occasions in the second half. The Bison put the game out of reach at the charity stripe with 20 free throw attempts over the final 20 minutes of the contest.
The Jackrabbits were led in the game Wednesday by 18 points apiece from
Matthew Mors and
Damon Wilkinson. Mors matched his season-high scoring output while playing a season-high 35 minutes. Wilkinson was 8-for-10 from the field while he recorded his 21st double-digit scoring game in his last 24 outings.
The Jacks and Fighting Hawks meet for the second time this season. SDSU and North Dakota played to overtime in their first matchup on Jan. 3 in Grand Forks. SDSU held an 87-85 edge until a Garrett Anderson 3-pointer pushed UND in front 88-87 with 17 seconds to play. The Hawks eventually converted on two free throws to close out a 90-87 win.
North Dakota enters Saturday's contest 16-14 overall and 10-4 in Summit League competition. The Fighting Hawks' 10 wins in conference play are tied for the program's most since joining The Summit League in 2018-19.Â
Greyson Uelmen paces the Fighting Hawks in scoring averaging 19.1 points per contest across 14 conference games. Uelmen set a new freshman single-season points record (461) in UND's 85-70 win over Kansas City on Thursday. Joining him in double digits in Summit League play are Anderson (13.0) and Eli King (12.6).
South Dakota State held an 18-game win streak over North Dakota that spanned from 2012-25, but recently the Fighting Hawks have turned the tide in the series. UND has won three straight meetings over SDSU, the longest stretch for the Hawks since 1992-93.Â
