MESA, Ariz. - The South Dakota State men's golf team is five shots off the lead after the opening round of the Summit League Championships at Longbow Golf Club.
The Jackrabbits are in a three-way tie for fifth with St. Thomas and Omaha, all with 289 (-5) team scorecards. South Dakota finished the day even par and has a two-shot lead at the top over North Dakota State. Denver and Kansas City are tied for third at +4.

Jacob Wilson and
Drew Teeter are tied for 12th place on the individual leaderboard, along with five others. That group posted 72 (+1) score for the first of three rounds. Olson posted six birdies on the day, matching the high for all players.
Tyler Seeling is one shot back (73, +2) and tied for 20th place while
Bryson Mercier is one more stroke off at +3 and tied for 24th place. Seeling and Teeter each eagled on hole 15.
On the individual leaderboard, South Dakota's Parker Etzel is part of a four-way tie for the lead after firing a 68 (-3). The junior's joined atop the standings by North Dakota State's Andrew Ballou, Denver's Jet Hernandez and St. Thomas' Owen Rexing. With four players tied atop the leaderboard and just five strokes separating the top seven teams, the tournament is set up for plenty of movement heading into Monday's second round.
