The Jackrabbits are coming off a pair of victories to begin their 2026 season. SDSU earned a 6-0 win over Manitoba Thursday, followed by an 11-0 triumph against MSU Moorhead this past Sunday. The Jacks' victory against the Dragons saw the 2026 squad set single-game program records for goals scored, assists and points. The first two matches have seen every active player on the roster contribute on the pitch. Twelve players have scored goals and 13 Jackrabbits have been credited with an assist. Â
SDSU will face a first-time opponent in Washington State on Thursday. The Cougars have opened the season with a 1-1 record. Wazzu lost 3-0 to Idaho in its opener, then defeated South Florida 4-1 last Sunday. The Cougars are led by first-year head coach Chris Citowicki who spent the previous eight seasons at Montana.
The Jackrabbits will make their second ever trip to Manhattan for a regular season match. SDSU lost the two sides' first ever meeting, 2-0, in 2019 in Manhattan. The 2022 season saw the Wildcats pay a visit to Brookings which SDSU won, 2-0. The Wildcats are 2-0 this season under second-year head coach Colleen Corbin. K-State began the year with wins over Seattle (4-0) and Hawaii (3-1).
The Jacks have a 2-0 record to start a season for the first time since 2023. That year saw SDSU open the year 4-0. SDSU's best ever start to a season was a 5-0 record to begin the 2021 campaign.Â
