DES MOINES, Iowa—The South Dakota State track and field program wrapped up competition Saturday at the 108
th Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
 
The women's shuttle hurdles team of 
Marissia Hagedorn, 
Haley Mottinger, 
Jaymie O'Connor and 
Rhyan Pettaway posted a school-record time of 58.60 for fourth place.
 
Men's relay teams posted some impressive performances on Saturday. The distance medley relay team of 
Alejandro Sanchez, 
Marc Husman, 
Cal Lawton and 
Kyle Burdick finished in sixth place with a time of 10:00.20. In the men's sprint medley relay, 
Jalen Williams, 
Dru Kenny, 
Anthony Bachmeier and 
Josh Goehring ran a time of 3:31.30.
 
Emily Donnay finished sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:33.82.
 
In the men's high jump, 
Zach Koosman cleared 6-08.00 and 
J.J. Hejna cleared 6-06.00.
 
In the hammer throw, 
Abby Sudbeck threw a distance of 160-01 on the women's side, and 
Logan Ammons threw a distance of 170-04 on the men's side.

Drake Relays
South Dakota State athletes competed at the 108
th Drake Relays and found success in several relays.
 
Both men's and women's 4x200-meter relay teams posted top-10 times. On the women's side, 
Savannah Dolezal, 
Vanessa Lane, 
Jacleen Patterson and 
Kayla McDonald teamed up to finish in 1:39.51, which ranks number two in school history. The men's team of 
Jalen Williams, 
Dru Kenny, 
Sam Zenner and 
Landon Larson finished in 1:27.80 for ninth on the all-time top-10 list.
 
In the women's 4x800-meter relay, 
Oksana Covey, 
Krista Steele, 
Emily Donnay and 
Kendra Dykstra finished in 9:09.43 which ranks fifth in school history.
 
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of 
Dru Kenny, 
Landon Larson, Joe Bednar and 
Sam Zenner posted a time of 42.55 to finish eighth and qualify for the finals tomorrow afternoon at 3:15 p.m.
 
In the 100-meter hurdles, 
Jaymie O'Connor posted a time of 14.35.
 
Sam Zenner recorded a time of 10.68 in the 100-meter dash.
 
Kip Janvrin Open
Jackrabbit student-athletes also competed at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, Friday afternoon.  
 
Chandler Klawitter won the 3,000-meter steeplechase posting a personal-best time of 9:32.50.
 
Chase Cayo recorded a personal-best time of 14:46.81 in the 5,000-meter run to claim the title.
 
In the 1,500-meter run, 
Brendan Sage (3:57.90) finished fourth and 
Lukas Nelson (3:58.25) claimed fifth.
 
Thursday Recap
Rachel King broke a 33-year-old record in the 5,000-meter run finisihing in 16:16.48. The previous record, which was set by Kristin Asp in 1984, was 16:25.25.
 
After falling less than one second short of the school record two weeks ago, 
Joel Reichow set a new school record in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 13:53.05. The previous record of 14:00.24 was set in 2005 by Brad Lowery. 
Kyle Burdick also ran a new personal-best time, finishing in 14:00.84 which ranks third in school history.
 
Trevor Capra finished second in the 10,000-meter run, finishing in a personal-best time of 29:43.23, which ranks sixth on the SDSU top-10 list. In the women's 10,000-meter run, 
Emily Berzonsky ran a personal-best time of 36:49.16.
 
The 4x1,600-meter relay team of 
Cal Lawton, 
Brendan Sage, 
Alejandro Sanchez and 
Lukas Nelson combined to finish in 16:55.93 for sixth place.
