The South Dakota State men's golf team begins defending its 2017 Summit League Championship title when it opens the spring season at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Arizona, Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole event takes place at the Sweailo Golf Club, a par 72, 7,283-yard layout, with 36 holes starting Monday and 18 holes Tuesday with 10 a.m. shotgun starts.
Competing alongside the Jackrabbits in the tournament are: Arizona, Baylor, BYU, California, Denver, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Santa Clara, St. Mary's, Texas A&M, UTEP, UTSA and Washington.
This is the second year for the Jackrabbits at the Arizona Intercollegiate. Last season, SDSU finished 17
th. Junior
Jaxon Lynn tied for 77
th while senior
Naqiuddin Fuad was 86
th in the 90-player field. Oregon won the event and the Ducks' Wyndham Clark was medalist.
SDSU, which won the last two Summit League Championships and advanced to the NCAA Regionals, was picked fifth in the league's 2018 preseason poll.
Junior
Alejandro Perazzo was chosen as a golfer to watch in The Summit League. He led the Jackrabbits with a 74.0 stroke average in 14 rounds this fall. He had seven rounds below par.
Junior
Jared Nicolls is second on the team with a 75.14 average after 14 rounds. His best finish came at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite, tying for third.
Sophomore
Alejandro Restrepo is shooting 75.21 and placed second at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite for his best finish of the fall.
The Jacks finished the fall season with a 303.29 scoring average and finished fifth at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite.
