The South Dakota State swimming and diving teams saw 20 career bests as they completed day two of the Minnesota Invite Friday night. The teams also swam season-best times in 11 of 12 events.
"It is a lot of fun when a team gets faster each session and that is exactly what happened tonight," said head coach Doug Humphrey. "These swimmers are continually swimming faster than they ever have, and they are having fun doing it."
Women
Richelle Bruyckere swam a career-best 4:31.45 in the 400 IM, slotting her in third place all-time at SDSU in the event. Liezl Ocon also posted a career-best in the 400 IM with a time of 4:42.25.
Bruyckere pulled into the fifth spot all-time in the 200 free with a 1:52.48 time during preliminaries before adding her name in the ninth spot in the event's finals session.
Kristen Davis slid into ninth all-time in the 100 fly with a season-best time of 57.49.
In the 100 breast, Mikayla Beckman swam a career-best 1:05.53 in preliminaries to put her at fifth in SDSU history. Beckman later finished 10th in the event's finals session
Tiffany Nguyen swam a career-best 58.02 in the 100 back. The season-best time for the team also puts Nguyen at 7th all-time at SDSU in the event.
Men
In the 400 IM, Damon Venner finished in fifth place (4:14.54) as all five Jackrabbit finishers recorded a personal season-best in the event.
Cody Watkins swam a season-best 49.72 in the 100 fly, putting him second all-time in school history. Trever Brenner finished right behind him to slide into third all-time with a time of 49.87.
The Jacks had three career-best finishes in the 200 free. Alex Kraft lead the way with a time of 1:41.96 to inch into 10th all-time at SDSU. Brenner (1:42.04) and Jared Miller (1:45.06) also posted career-best times.
Wyatt Rumrill swam a season-best 58.13 in the 100 breast, good for ninth all-time. In the 100 back, Miller swam a season-best 50.98 to put himself into 6th in school history.
Relays
The women's 'B' squad (Conners, Frigard, Spinner, Bruyckere) finished fifth with a season-best time of 1:47.18 in the 200 medley relay. On the men's side, the team's 'A' squad (Miller, Rumrill, Watkins, Skinner) swam a season-best 1:34.16.

The Jacks return Saturday to wrap up the three day invitational with preliminaries starting at 9 a.m. followed by final events at 5 p.m.
