Summit League Championships Outlook
South Dakota State has locked up at least a top-two seed in next month's Summit League Championships in Sioux Falls, and Thursday's game could decide the top seed.
If South Dakota State wins Thursday, the Jackrabbits will be the No. 1 seed and win their first ever outright Summit League regular season title. The Jackrabbits shared the title in 2012-13, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
If South Dakota State loses Thursday, the Jackrabbits will need to win at Fort Wayne Saturday to claim a share of the regular season title, but would yield the top seed to South Dakota and enter the tournament as the second seed.

South Dakota State played five Power Five (ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac-12) opponents this season and has two wins those games.
The Jackrabbits knocked off Ole Miss (Nov. 28) in overtime after a win over Iowa (Nov. 21) at the Cayman Islands Classic.
SDSU also faced Kansas (Nov. 17) and Colorado (Dec. 15) in addition to a road matchup at then-No. 6 Wichita State (a member of the American Athletic Conference), with narrow losses against the Shockers and Buffaloes. At WSU, the Jacks led for over 28 minutes of game action, but a late charge helped the Shockers defend their home court. SDSU charged back from an early deficit in Colorado to force overtime, but could not pull off the comeback in a double overtime affair that saw
SDSU play just eight Jackrabbits in 50 minutes of game action.
South Dakota State has seven wins over Power Five programs since joining The Summit League in 2007, picking up wins over Iowa State (2008), Iowa (2010 and 2017), Washington (2011), TCU (2015), Minnesota (2015) and Ole Miss (2017).
The wins over Iowa and Ole Miss this season came in the shortest time frame of any Summit League team since 1998 (seven days). The Jacks are the fifth league team to post a win over separate Power Five conferences in the same regular season, and the first to do it since 2009.

SDSU Last Time Out (Feb. 17, 2018)
Four Jackrabbits reached double figures as South Dakota State rolled to an 82-62 win Saturday on Military Appreciation Day at Frost Arena.
Playing in front of 2,873 fans, SDSU (23-6, 11-1 Summit League) won its sixth consecutive game and maintained its first-place spot in The Summit League standings with two games remaining.
The Jackrabbits shot 44.4 percent as a team and hit seven 3-pointers, going 19-for-25 at the charity stripe. State won the rebounding battle, 39-36, and turned six offensive boards into an 11-3 advantage in second-chance points.
Mike Daum led all scorers with 30 points, sinking three 3-pointers and 11-of-15 from the free throw line.
David Jenkins Jr. added 20 points with seven rebounds, while
Brandon Key had 11.
Tevin King rounded out the double figure scoring for the Jacks with 10 and paced the team with eight rebounds.
South Dakota State opened the game with five unanswered, and though WIU hung around early, the Jackrabbits methodically pulled away to lead by 15 (38-23) at the half.
Up 13-11 just past the 12-minute mark in the first, State gained some separation over the next four minutes with an 11-3 rally to push its lead to double figures (24-14). The final three minutes of the half saw the Jacks turn an eight-point (28-20) advantage into the halftime score thanks to a 10-3 rally that ended with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Jenkins.
SDSU went up 18 (44-26) early in the second, only to see WIU answer and bring it within 12 (48-36) with 13:46 remaining. State recovered the momentum, however, and with less than 10 minutes was ahead, 62-42.
The Jackrabbits' largest lead of the game (69-44) came on the tail end of an 11-2 State run near the eight-minute mark, and SDSU thwarted any comeback attempts down the stretch to close out the win.

VERMILLION, S.D.—A 24-point second-half lead and a game-high 28 points from junior guard Matt Mooney was more than enough for South Dakota to get past Omaha, 79-64, on Senior Day Saturday at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
The win moves the Coyotes to 24-6 overall, most wins at the Division I level, and 11-2 in Summit League play with one to go. South Dakota finishes 13-1 at home for the second straight year at its new facility. It formally sets up a Summit League showdown in Brookings Thursday with the winner claiming a conference championship and the No. 1 seed at the upcoming Summit League Tournament.
South Dakota led 39-24 at the half and scored the first seven points of the second half to cap a 15-0 run that put the Coyotes in control. The Mavericks were 0-for-11 during that stretch which spanned more than six minutes.
"I thought the last seven minutes of the first half and first 5-6 minutes of the second half were certainly pivotal moments of the game," said USD head coach Craig Smith. "We stopped them 9 out of 12 possessions going into the half, and we scored on 8 out of 9 going into the half, and obviously the pendulum really swung.
"We had a great crowd, and it was a good way to finish the year at home. We control our destiny and winning this game puts us in a position where we can do what we want to do."
Mooney scored 16 of his 28 after the break and finished 11 of 20 from the field. It was his 10th 20-point performance this season and was three points shy of his career high. In addition to Mooney, USD got 15 points and eight rebounds from Trey Burch-Manning. Senior Nick Fuller, in 23 minutes off the bench, had 11 points and a career-high 10 boards for his first collegiate double-double. Tyler Hagedorn had eight points and eight rebounds.
Omaha (9-19, 4-8 Summit) had four starters in double figures, but surprisingly Zach Jackson was the one who wasn't, ending his streak of 21 consecutive games of at least 10 points. The fourth-leading scorer in the Summit at 18 per game was held to a single 3-pointer on seven shots from the field. He had 26 points in the earlier meeting against the Coyotes in Omaha.
Matt Pile, who returned to Omaha's lineup recently following a long injury, scored 16 points and had seven rebounds to lead the Mavericks in both categories. He hit extended 3's on back-to-back possessions with seven minutes left that helped Omaha climb within 11 points at 67-56 with 5:18 remaining. Fuller made two free throws for the Coyotes and Mooney scored in the paint to push the lead back to 15.
