Men's golf wraps up fall season

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- The South Dakota State men's golf team tied for 12^th in a highly competitive field at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational on Monday in Vero Beach, Fla. to wrap up the fall portion of its schedule.

RESULTS

"The guys finished off the tournament strong," said head coach Casey VanDamme. "While we definitely have a long way to go to compete with the top teams, it was the first time we finished even-par or better in a long time."

The Jackrabbits finished even-par (864) with scores of 289-290-285. This was the first time that SDSU men's golf team had finished even-par or better since Sept. 27, 2016 when it posted an 855 (-9) at The Jackrabbit. The 54-hole total ranks fifth or the Jacks all-time.

Notre Dame captured the title with a score of 821 (-43) and South Florida came in a close second at 822 (-42).

Jack Tanner led the team and tied for 38^th with a total of 213 (-3). The freshman shot four-under in the final round, while recording a total of six birdies.

Jacob Otta shot even-par in the final round to finish with a total of 216 (E). Tying with Otta on the day was Comerford, who finished the tournament with 218 (+2).

Jonah Dohrer finished with scores of 71-75-76—222 (+6). Harry Duggan shot a 73 (+1) in the final 18 holes to factor into the team score and finished the tournament with a total of 226 (+10).

"The fall season went fast," VanDamme expressed. "I really like our team and am excited to see how much effort they give in the off season. We have some great potential and I look forward to the spring season!"
